WHY?????

As I am packing for my move to Vegas, I have asked myself this a thousand times.

No, I'm not questioning my decision to take the job. No, I'm not asking why it was almost 50 today (see the posts below this one!). No, I am asking 'why the fucking hell have I kept all this crap?’

I am finding stuff that I haven't seen in years. Why haven't I seen it? Because I don't need it! My basement is beginning to look a lot like Fred Sanford's place. Dead computer parts; papers from when I was in school in Minnesota; papers from when I was in HIGH SCHOOL! What the hell? How did I become such a pack rat?

It tends the raise the bigger question though. Why does anyone keep anything they don't need on a daily basis? My VHS tapes and DVD's are explainable, to a point. However on some of my tapes I have found old episode of Pokemon. I shake my head in wonder at why did I;

A: Tape Pokemon

and

B: Save it and not tape over it.

What about magazines? I have old issues of Readers Digest, ESPN Magazine and Maxim.

Oh, it doesn't stop there! I have found clothing that there is no way I could have worn since I was in grade school. Old catalogs, broken electronics and six year old pay stubs.

I am sure there are a lot of people who are like me. And I think I have figured out why we do it. I think it's got a lot to do with that we are somewhat afraid of what the future may hold for us. So we tend to cling to the security of our pasts. We keep the things from the good parts of our lives, regardless of how pointless they may be, in case the future gives us hardships. Then we can go through our old stuff and remember the good times.

I'm making a pact with myself. I will no longer cling to the past. I've already filled two garbage bags with clothes and other junk I don't need. No, it would be mean to donate these clothes... They're not in good shape... and looking around, I think I have several more garbage bags to go.

Speaking as someone who's had a different residence, on average, every 18 months of his life, I know where you're coming from. I try to throw things out when I move, then, pressed for time, just start throwing crap in boxes. When I get to the new place I wonder why I ever moved "this" and throw it away. Yeah, I've moved stuff 1300 miles just to throw it away.

Good luck at the new job. Vegas! I've been known to show up there......

Welcome to my blog!

Thanks for visiting my arena of crap and terrible writing! My name is Erin Winking, also known as ewink and this is my blog.

I am a 29+2 year old, year old television news photojournalist from Springfield, Illinois who just got done with a two year bit in Las Vegas and has now, for whatever reason come back to Realtown, America - Tulsa, Oklahoma! I am a huge anime fan as well!

Outside of that I enjoy writing, playing computer games (EVE Online 4tw!) and not updating my website! I am also semi-political, whereas I like to bitch about things, but tend to not do anything else. If you are going to put me in a party, you'd have to consider me a libertarian, even though I am not a member of any political party.

I hope you like my blog! Feel free to drop me a line!
