In the continuing series of old school rants from about 5 years ago, here is one I wrote about people 'speaking for God'.
I advise you to steer clear of this posting if there is the possibility that my jaded views on religion might offend you. Of course to be honest, if I was worried about offending anyone I would just keep my big mouth shut...

Alright. As some people who know me already know I am very skeptical when it comes to religion. All of them. I don't really believe in God, but I don't really disbelieve in God either. I do, however, find it hard to believe that any god would let the things that happen in the world happen unless he/she was an evil or sadistic god. I have heard people say 'God spared them' or 'God brought me back because it wasn't my time to go' and such. Why were these people spared and not the 3000 in NYC and DC? Where they all bad people? And I can't count how many times I have almost cried when reading about a little child being killed somehow and the parents have the nerve to say 'It's okay, he's with God now.' It's not okay.
That's off topic though. What I want to talk about is how some people find it their responsibility to speak/act for god. I am not just talking about those people who were responsible for the 9/11 mess. I also am talking about the 'domestic terrorists' mailing bombs to abortion doctors. People like Jerry Fawell who find it necessary to put people down because it's their job to belittle people for God.
Here's the deal. If there is a God, and he needs something said, trust me, we will hear it. Murder and other hate crimes, while still punished by the law, almost seem acceptable by people because that's the way it should be. Is abortion wrong? In my opinion, yes. Is being a homosexual wrong? As far as I am concerned, no. But if it is, then they will get their comeuppance once they are dead. If you really believe in God, leave people alone and let them burn in hell if you think that is what they will do. Jerry, shut up. You do nothing to help your cause with your hateful speech. And in my opinion anyone who takes you seriously is just a stupid as you are.
