I switched banks, from the 'Well, you're probably going to overdraft, so we'll just charge you $300 in overdraft fees even though you have a positive balance' US Bank to Washington Mutual. (US Bank is once again socking me with $34.00 a pop overdraft fees even though I was not overdrawn. I am now, thanks to said fees though!)
I didn't get the account change submitted for direct deposit in time and now I have no money and have to wait till tomorrow for a paper check.

I highly recommend Overdraft Protection - or - reserve line of credit - depending what your bank calls it.
for 25 bucks a year, the bank will dip into the reserve instead of charging you fees.
Gee you don't have enough money so we're going to charge you more money for each check that clears before your paycheck! Not the brighest!
I got overdraft protection when I was a poor reporter - and I went 7 years without using it - until recently when I changed jobs and the gap between paychecks doomed me in!
