Condolences

Friday, Phoenix KTVK-TV photojournalist Jim Cox and pilot Scott Bowerback, KNXV-TV photojournalist Rick Krolak and pilot Craig Smith were killed when their helicopters collided while covering a police chase.

I am very saddened by this and I wish the best to their families, both immediate and extended newsroom families.

Not really.

Story with the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office about the round up of parents who wouldn't pay child support. To bad we only got one arrest on camera. And that was just because we were at the Sheriff's office waiting on them!

OHP Needs More Troopers!!!

This story made me cry as right after we started on our ride-a-long, we got sent to do a bank robbery. So we only managed to do the interview with the Captain, the interview in the car (which you might notice my rain gear partially covering my lens (oops - figures Kathy would pick that bite to use) and get the single motorist assist. That ended up being ass to, because after I got video of him walking to the guy, I managed to squeeze my fatass and camera out of the cruiser (Crown Vic + Fat Guy + Big DVCPro camera = stuck) he was already on his way back to the car.

That's when we had to haul ass back to the OHP HQ to get my Explorer, so I didn't get anymore cut aways or stops or anything. Then to top it off, the bank robbery became a VOSOT, so we had to finish the package! Of course I had no video but Kathy said it didn't look bad.

As an added bonus, when watching the anchor intro and tag, look for the big yellow blob walking around in the newsroom. That's me!

I love working with Noelle because I always get to do crime stories which have NO video! That's not a stab at her at all. It's just interesting how I manage to some how find enough video to cover the entire 60 seconds. To Noelle's credit, she writes them really short, so it's not as difficult as say a 2:30 story with no video...

Anyway, pizza robberies complete with in your face doglick! You know I remember back when I was at WICS I used to complain that we didn't do enough live shots. The old adage is true... be careful what you wish for...
